Five Hungarian universities have been featured in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject for Computer Science & Information Systems, including Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) which is ranked 501-550 in the world.

With consistently strong scores across all ranking indicators, Eötvös Loránd University is a top study destination for prospective computer science students.

The university’s students are also able to take advantage of the Erasmus+ programme to further enhance their university experience.

To learn more about Erasmus+ and how it complements your education at Eötvös Loránd University, we spoke to Thausif who is studying the MSc Computer Science (AI) programme.

Thausif’s story

As an international student in Hungary with a residence permit, I jumped at the chance to join my first fully funded Erasmus+ youth exchange in Poland.

What followed was a transformative week blending deep discussions on global peace with pure joy and connection, open to anyone aged 18-28 holding a Hungarian permit, whether at ELTE or elsewhere.

Days revolved around dynamic workshops tackling nuclear disarmament, human rights, and a peaceful Europe.

We started with eye-opening sessions on nuclear weapons facts, NATO and UN roles, and how they're built, then moved to banning efforts like ICAN and challenges of nuclear power.

Afternoons sharpened our skills through communication training, media's societal impact, EU energy policies, and an intense Oxford-style debate.

Evenings brought reflections, quizzes, and prep for a public "happening" event, all led by our skilled UK facilitator.

These hands-on activities in mixed international teams turned complex issues into actionable insights and lifelong critical thinking tools.

This experience proved how quickly diverse backgrounds weave into something unbreakable.

From team-building games to late-night chats by the fire, I left with friends across Europe and a renewed drive for peace activism.

If you come to study in Hungary, grab these chances as they deliver integration, workshops, fun, and off-the-beaten-path discoveries that reshape your worldview, all while building a network ready to support your next steps.
